Women's Therapy in Philadelphia

As women, there are unique issues that impact us—from having disrespect from our partners normalized, being expected to do it all, over-function, “fix” our partners, bend over backwards for parents and in-laws, never get tired, and do everything with a smile so it doesn’t inconvenience others.

With the political climate as it is, it’s hard not to feel like we’re fundamentally “less than”—or feel rageful—on a daily basis. But we know that underneath anger is pain. Feeling rage is important, because these are incredibly culturally and politically abusive and neglectful times for women.

However, remaining in that rage can be physically harmful and disempowering. What’s underneath it is often hurt, incredulity, pain, fear, terror, grief, and many other complex emotions—especially when many people, even women themselves, have internalized these beliefs and don’t realize their actions can be harmful or dismissive. Many don’t even recognize micro-aggressions because we were brought up in this system.
